A fresh set was needed for the ever popular 2:22 tour.
Working from the existing design we set about building a new touring set that was relatively easy to assemble in a stack built way using the ceiling as a mother grid.
A somewhat traditional looking 3 walled set, with a twist. The set is rotated 9 degrees on the centreline with the ceiling set at a 7 degree slope. Although the walls are square the raking of the ceiling created some interesting challenges for the SL skylights. Thankfully we drew the set in 3D eliminating any errors and allowing the angles and rake to marry nicely.
With some lovely architectural build elements such as a distressed Victorian glazed door, a kitchen with various tricks and of course a beautiful ‘oak plank’ floor (it’s amazing what you can do with CNC’d sheets of Ply!)
Plenty of textural wall finishes and layered wallpaper all dirtied down to give a sense of age
Starting it’s tour in Bath we did the initial fit up and showed the Production Carpenter the build methodology and glad to say they have got it down to a fine art now and are getting the set up and down in record time.
